Finding Balance: Event as Part of the Debating Heritage Series
How do historic neighborhoods manage the fragile balance between urban transformation and cultural preservation? Community participation is a key, albeit contested, terrain in the transformation of historic neighborhoods, with the potential to shape inclusive urban conservation practices. On 30 January 2025, the International Heritage Centre invites you to a lecture by Dr. Shradha Chandan.
This lecture will explore the dynamic interplay between urban transformation and civic participation in the context of historic neighborhoods, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of promoting inclusion. With a comparative view - on South Asian and European perspectives - it explores how community-oriented approaches contribute to the preservation of cultural identities in the midst of rapid urban change.
Dr. Shradha Chandan, DAAD PRIME scholarship holder and research associate at Bauhaus University Weimar, explores the complex relationships between cultural heritage, civic participation and urban transformation.
