The live start of the beta version takes place on 17 October 2013 for the welcome ceremony.

The University chose to develop a responsive website. As soon as a user accesses the internet site www.uni-weimar.de  with a mobile device, the system recognizes the aspect ratio in the display of the output device and presents the website in an optimised design.

In contrast to an app, which mostly has a limited range of abilities, any internet-ready device can access almost the entire Bauhaus-Universität Weimar web presence without having to download and install an app. With that, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is following a technologically demanding path taken by few universities in Germany.  

On the left border you will find in an optimised layout a clearly arranged navigation that was developed for use via touch screen. On the right border you can retrieve extra information, such as contact information, quick links and downloads.

The project was realised with the support of Mirko Friedrich for technological conception and programming (blandland), Alexander Kümmel for the TYPO-3 implementation, Ralf Herrmann as adviser for web design, an external expert and two graduates from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The ambitious plan was brought to maturity jointly with the Web-Team of University Communications and the instructional staff of the course of study Computer Science and Media.

In order to improve and further develop the website with your help, we invite you to take a look starting 17 October after the welcome ceremony and send us your comments and suggestions.
