Project description
Climate change poses a risk for the built infrastructure. Global warming and the associated changes in the climate system increase the risk of irreversible damaging consequences.
Research Objectives:
- Development of modeling and simulation approaches for estimating the effects of climate change on built environment and selection of suitable adaptation strategies;
- Systematic investigations and conceptual studies on the design-relevant consequences of climate change;
- Consequences of the behavior of models, taking into account model uncertainties;
- Systematic investigation of the consequences on structural behavior and necessary adaptation strategies in design, execution and performance;
- Development of smart sensor solutions for structural monitoring and real time adaptation;
- Assessment of the consequences on construction practice and future design of structures (in cooperation with the industrial advisory board).
