Susanne Riese, an employee of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, initiated a cake bazaar on Saturday, March 12, on Herderplatz, in which many other employees of the university participated. The proceeds of 3,700 euros will benefit the Ukraine Bridge Weimar- Zamość, the city of Weimar announced on Friday.
Susanne Riese handed over the donation check to mayor Peter Kleine. »More than 50 cakes were provided to the organizing team, including from local bakeries. The willingness to help and participate was enormous. This also applies to the willingness to donate, which was particularly high among the younger generations,« Susanne Riese summed up.
The proceeds from the bake sale will now be used to purchase food, blankets, hygiene articles, medicine and medical equipment, which will be delivered directly from Weimar to the Polish twin city of Zamość on one of the next aid transports and from there on to the war zone. Thanks not least to the bake sale, the city's donation account has exceeded the 100,000 euro mark. The next aid transport is already being planned.
