Khalid Al-Khatib, Doktorand am Fachbereich Medieninformatik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, hat ein mit 20.000 Dollar dotiertes Stipendium des amerikanischen IT-Unternehmens IBM erhalten.
Der weltweit ausgeschriebene Wettbewerb fördert besonders begabte Doktoranden, die an gesellschaftlich relevanten und innovativen Forschungsthemen arbeiten.

Al-Kathib arbeitet an der Professur für Content Management und Webtechnologien bei Professor Dr. Benno Stein und forscht zu Argumentationsstrategien im Bereich Maschinelles Lernen.

Khalid Al-Khatib wins IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award
Khalid Al-Khatib, Researcher at the Computer Science and Media Department at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is the 2017 winner of the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award. The award covers a $20,000 stipend and an internship at the IBM Technology Campus in Dublin.
The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Program is a worldwide competitive program, which honors exceptional PhD students who have an interest in solving problems that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study.
Al-Khatib is a researcher and Ph.D. student at the Chair of Web Technology and Information Systems headed by Prof. Dr. Benno Stein. His primary research is on computational argumentation and in particular argumentation strategies.
