Information on the start of the semester

Dear students, Dear first semester students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering,

We are pleased to welcome you to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar to start the winter semester 2023/2024 together. The lecturers of the Faculty of Civil Engineering as well as the Dean's Office and the staff in technology, administration and the laboratories have prepared the start of lectures on 9 October 2023. Please refer to the timetables and the course catalogue for details of the courses. If you have any questions or uncertainties, please contact our academic advising team.

In preparation for the start of studies, the Faculty of Civil Engineering offers an online introductory course for enrolled first semester bachelor students as well as information events for all students of the various degree programmes and different subject semesters. There is an overview of all information/introductory events for the start of the semester on this page.

Examination Period: 12 February to 1 March 2024

Information on the start of studies

Your studies are about to begin and with them a new phase in your life, for which there are a number of things to be arranged and organised. The Campus.Office will help you with questions regarding the organisation of your studies and will organise the Student Orientation Days from 4 to 6 October 2023. This is THE event to get to know your future fellow students, make new friends, experiences and feel the Bauhaus-University Weimar as a whole.

To ensure a successful start to the semester, the Faculty of Civil Engineering offers the online preparation course "Einstieg ins Studium WiSe 2023/24" on the learning platform moodle, which focuses on the STEM subjects (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, Technology). As a newly enrolled student, you can repeat or refresh your knowledge independently before the start of the regular lecture weeks. Various online tutorials, chat rooms, learning videos, exercises and much more have been set up for this purpose.

Every year, the General Academic Advising team and students from higher semesters organise a programme for all new students, which introduces them to Weimar as a place to study and to the University of Weimar, in order to give them a smooth start to their studies. Accompanied by student tutors, you will receive tips on everyday study life as well as the cultural and leisure activities on offer in Weimar.
