In collaboration with the Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau (BAW; Mussie Kidane and Ina Teutsch), a new scientific publication has appeared in the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering. The work is based on Finn Jost's thesis and examines the load scenario of so-called freak waves in the context of the geotechnical design of offshore foundations.

We are pleased to welcome Paul Haberl to the Chair of Geotechnics, where he will contribute to our research into the numerical modelling of geotechnical railway infrastructure.

At Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, a recent master’s thesis by May Thu Moe investigated the dynamic response of a moment-resisting frame under earthquake loading using the shaking table of the Chair of Geotechnics.

On the 15th of October 2025, the University Awards were presented in the Maurice Halbwachs Auditorium by President Prof. Peter Benz at the graduation ceremony. Endegena was honoured with the award for the best master’s thesis in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

A new paper in Computers and Geotechnics presents numerical methods for simulating vibratory pile driving of offshore piles in water-saturated sand.
