Die Professur Geotechnik hat zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine Stelle für wissenschaftliche Mitarbeitende mit Promotion zu besetzen.

The recently approved DFG project examines how long-term vibrations result in the accumulation of compaction and deformation in cohesionless soils. To this end, the project will combine shaking table and quasi-static triaxial tests in order to validate high-cycle numerical methods.

In collaboration with the University of Bristol and the University of Melbourne, a new article has been published. It introduces a reproducible, hydro-mechanically coupled CEL (Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian) framework to realistically simulate large deformations in water-saturated soils.

As part of a new DFG project, the complex behaviour of monopile foundations for offshore wind turbines under the combined action of high-cyclic wind and wave loads as well as seismic excitation is being investigated using experimental and numerical approaches.

In collaboration with the University of Western Australia and Central Queensland University, Brisbane, two new journal articles on the foundations of offshore wind turbines have been published.

In collaboration with the Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau (BAW; Mussie Kidane and Ina Teutsch), a new scientific publication has appeared in the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering. The work is based on Finn Jost's thesis and examines the load scenario of so-called freak waves in the context of the geotechnical design of offshore foundations.

We are pleased to welcome Paul Haberl to the Chair of Geotechnics, where he will contribute to our research into the numerical modelling of geotechnical railway infrastructure.

At Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, a recent master’s thesis by May Thu Moe investigated the dynamic response of a moment-resisting frame under earthquake loading using the shaking table of the Chair of Geotechnics.
