New Publication in Review of Managerial Science

We are pleased to announce the publication of a new article entitled “Do startup incubators enhance new venture performance? Evidence from a meta-analysis,” authored by Nikolaus Seitz, Martina Buratti, Erik E. Lehmann, and Niklas Eberle, published in Review of Managerial Science.

The study examines the effectiveness of startup incubators in fostering entrepreneurial activity. Based on a meta-analysis of 22 empirical studies and 65 effect sizes, the results show a positive and statistically significant impact of incubator participation on new venture performance. The analysis further highlights that program specialization, public sponsorship, and regional context play an important moderating role. The findings suggest that incubators can enhance financial, operational, and strategic outcomes, while their effectiveness depends on specific program characteristics and contextual conditions.
