“50:50 – Between Lighthouse Successes and the Valley of Death”
Featuring:
Dr. Merle Fuchs, PhD
Innovation and Technology Transfer Manager and CEO of TechnologyContor
Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: Seminar Room A, Bauhausstraße 11
How can we move faster from research to innovation — “from lab to impact” — and overcome the famous “Valley of Death” between scientific discovery and practical application?
For more than 25 years, Dr. Merle Fuchs has worked at the interface of technology transfer, innovation, and DeepTech entrepreneurship. She has supported more than 600 tech start-up projects and co-founded successful ventures in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, photonics, and automation technology.
The outcome of her own start-up activities could hardly be more honest: half of the projects failed — while the other half developed into successful DeepTech lighthouse ventures.
What can we learn from this? Which recurring challenges, misconceptions, and structural barriers continue to shape research transfer processes?
Dr. Merle Fuchs will speak openly about these experiences, sharing honest insights and practical learnings from the world of tech start-ups and innovation transfer.
The event is organized in cooperation with neudeli and takes place in connection with the workshop Beyond the Paper.
