Material Girls laden ein:
Material Girls haben sich über ihr künstlerisches Material gefunden.
Sie eröffnen mit ihrem Material ein Spielfeld. Nicht nur die ästhetischen Qualitäten des Materials werden verhandelt, sondern auch die Fähigkeiten des Erinnerns und Speichern. Stein überdauert unsere Gesellschaft, Gips kann Spuren des Handelns speichern, Haare sind Speicher unserer menschlichen DNA.
Die Materialien sind nicht von den Künstlerinnen gemacht, sondern stammen aus einer Zeit, die vor der Entstehung des Werkes und der Performances liegt.
Das Material wird zu einem elementaren Gegenspieler. Es ermöglicht ein Erinnern, ein Assoziieren oder auch ein Verweilen in dem Sein mit dem Material.
Das alles fordert zu Handlungen auf: Das Material, der Raum, die Körper. Sie wollen bearbeitet, verändert und genutzt werden. Das Flexible, das Flüchtige und das Lebendige wird mit den Performances deutlich und legt sich im Material ab. Der körperlichen Präsenz der Performer*innen steht das vermeintlich beständige Material gegenüber.
Mit der Ausstellung gehen die beteiligten Künstler*innen miteinander in den Dialog und zeigen sich ihre vertrauten Werkstoffe und wollen das bestehende System der Performance Kunst gemeinsam untersuchen.
Am 18.04.2023 um 19:30 eröffnet die Ausstellung Material Girls im Irre Space der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in der Marienstraße 14. Ausstellende Künstlerinnen und Künstler sind Stella Dragovic, Cora Groos, Celine Loesche, Nadja Kracunovic, Aliya Sayfart und Rino Sokol sein.

Material Girls invite you:
Material Girls have found each other through their artistic material.
They open up a playing field with their material. Not only the aesthetic qualities of the material are negotiated, but also the abilities of remembering and storing. Stone outlasts our society, plaster can store traces of action, hair is the memory of our human DNA.
The materials are not made by the artists, but come from a time before the creation of the work and the performances.
The material becomes an elemental counterpart. It enables a remembering, an associating or even a dwelling in being with the material.
All of this invites action: The material, the space, the bodies. They want to be worked on, changed and used. The flexible, the fleeting and the living become clear in the performances and are deposited in the material. The physical presence of the performers is contrasted with the supposedly permanent material.
With the exhibition, the participating artists enter into dialogue with each other and show each other their familiar materials and want to examine the existing system of performance art together.
The exhibition Material Girls opens on 18.04.2023 at 19:30 in the Irre Space of the Bauhaus University Weimar at Marienstraße 14. The exhibiting artists are Stella Dragovic, Cora Groos, Celine Loesche, Nadja Kracunovic, Aliya Sayfart and Rino Sokol.
