New exhibition contribution: Digital Orthotics at Rapid.Tech 3D
The research projects "Digital Orthotics" will be presented from May 14 to 16 at Rapid.Tech 3D in Erfurt, outlining novel potentials of digital design and fabrication in the field of medical design and orthotics. Specifically, a fully 3D-printed foot orthosis will be shown that that can be computationally designed and produced within a closed digital chain, while being able to be (individually) adapted to the diseased foot. As such, the 3D-printed foot orthosis not only addresses specific medical, functional and production requirements, but also enhances aesthetic capacity to reduce the stigmatization of patients while increasing the general acceptance of the orthosis.
