Scientific disciplines

The educational profile of students at the Faculty of Art and Design emphasises analytical, discursive, and critical thinking skills, as well as articulation and presentation competencies. In the academic disciplines, students learn how to develop their own positions, critically examine their artistic and design practices, and locate them within the broader historical, cultural, and social contexts.

Leading experts teach scientific modules that impart the fundamentals of art and design studies, as well as perspectives from the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences, alongside artistic and design research methodologies.

This theoretical component of the programme is closely connected to its practical aspects: Aesthetic debates, empirical practices, interdisciplinary research, historical material, and unconventional theories open new perspectives for students on their own work.

The academic components also prepare students for the option of continuing their studies in the Art and Design Ph.D. degree programme.
