Digital Reconstruction
For the special exhibition „Die ‚Urzelle‘ des Bauhauses - Karl Peter Röhl und sein Freundeskreis ‚Ganz radikale ungeberdige Elemente‘“ of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, the professorship explored and digitally reconstructed a sculpture by the painter and sculptor Johannes Karl Herrmann. The reconstruction was based solely on two historical photographs that do not show the work in its entirety. The innovative digital reconstruction opens up new creative perspectives on the historical original – and, at the same time, brings forward questions about how to deal with fragmentary historic sources and how to expand our understanding of cultural heritage.
