Institutes

The Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism is currently divided into three institutes: the Institute for European Urban Studies (IfEU), the Bauhaus Institute for History and Theory of Architecture and Planning (Bauhaus-Institut) and the bauhaus-institut für experimentelle architektur (bauhaus.ifex).

These also represent the educational and research interests of the faculty. The institutes ensure that the necessary amount of expertise is available internally in order to handle the interdisciplinary research topics and thus act as a specialized home and differentiated intersection for all the professorships in the faculty. Together with the Institute for Infrastructure Solutions at the Faculty of Civil Engineering they define the inter-faculty focus on »city« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Institute of European Urban Studies (IfEU)

The Institute of European Urban Studies aims to combine the strengths of the BAUHAUS with the cultural heritage of European cities and address the challenges of globalisation at the start of the 21stcentury.
