From 9 to 11 November 2023, this year’s annual conference of the Institute for European Urban Studies (IfEU) at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be held on the topic of »Authoritarian Urbanism: Global Manifestations, Knowledge Exchange and Contestation«. Registration is open until 31 October 2023.
This English-language conference addresses the connections between current urban development and increasing authoritarian tendencies in a global and interdisciplinary perspective.
Guests from abroad will include researchers from New York, São Paolo, Istanbul, Astana, London, Cardiff, Coventry, Paris, Athens, Bern and Zurich. The conference organizers were able to recruit Virág Molnár from the New School for Social Research, New York, and Michał Murawski from University College London as keynote speakers.
The conference, coordinated by Jr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Daniela Zupan, Junior Professorship for European Cities and Urban Heritage, is funded by the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung.
