The International Ph.D. Network was established as a joint project of the Bauhaus Research School and the International Office in order to support the integration of the international and German doctoral candidates both in the university structures and in the social life of Weimar. The project aims at generating interdisciplinary events fostering the exchange of knowledge and international experiences. Above all, the Network aims at giving opportunities for meetings of colleagues and the university’s alumni. Among the diverse activities of the Network you will find the co-organization of the Interdisciplinary Colloquiums, organization of the Alumni-meetings series, organization of the PhD-Night-Out, as well as direct support to the colleagues in the form of assistance with accommodation, legal, social (family) or cultural (integration, language) issues.
IPN PODCAST
To enhancing the networking, let us know how you cope with your research in these times, and what challenges or certain behaviors changed and impacted your life. The Podcast is intended to have you as interviewed guests answering in an informal and free way to our questions. Don’t worry, it is nothing serious, and if you decide, whatever happens in the IPN Network, stays in IPN Network! We will release soon an audio example, done by me and Viola, giving you a clue of what we are trying to do. We did not fix a kick-off date yet, but obviously we are looking for participants willing to share the views with us!
If you are one of them, please send an email at: victor.vilceanu[at]uni-weimar.de
We cordially invite you to meet your colleagues at our “PhD-Night-Outs & Excursions“ at varying locations, currently online & soon we hope in presence again. The events are open for all doctoral and postdoctoral candidates at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, as well as for their family members. You will find out about our current event by heading over to our Ph.D. Night Out page.
Several times in a semester we invite you to engage in a meeting with an international PhD-alumnus. The meetings provide an opportunity to our colleagues already holding a PhD degree to look back and share their experiences. A pleasant and relaxed atmosphere (everyone brings their own beverages) enables an intense exchange of ideas and new horizons, even if the presented professional and personal lifestyle differs from your own. After the event everyone is invited to continue talks in a bar. The guests are either recommended by their professors or by other colleagues. Feel free to suggest another guest!
