Why are you researching or studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?

MFA program public Art and New Artistic Strategies. Within, I develop the mix-media artworks (mostly performances and objects) while intervening in the domain of public space.

What is special about your project? Why is it relevant?

FUTURE NOSTALGIA KIOSK Behind the Bauhaus idea of comprehensive work (Gesamtkunstwerk), stands the unification of arts, mostly future-oriented. This futuristic laboratory offers an alternative version of reality while expanding one's imagination. To imagine a future or, better said futures, does not mean to predict or decide on but to speculate. Future Nostalgia is a contradictory term of longing for something that has never happened nor existed. Therefore, it intentionally unsettles the present and speculates on the future(s) while creating a narrative that wavers between human interactions, aspirations, and imagination. Within the ''Story of the broken timeline,'' the mix-media project shows the nonlinearity of time, its unpredictability, and its possibilities. In the kiosk capsule, the timeline broke and everything that has or has never existed broke within. Fraction, fiction, and fragments. THE STORY OF THE BROKEN TIMELINE * Once the time broke into the tiny pieces and everything that had existed broke within. We entered the era of Reversal, backpedaling in the direction of the Beginning, where the world was about to start again or remain. While exploring haptically the skeletons of time, we see how differently they were treated. Their parts were cut, their surface destroyed, crippled, and often left with scars. The color faded away, texture mutilated, being wrapped in the past with its shape deformed. These fossils have neither purpose nor history. The artifacts were floating around, losing their structure, scent, purpose, and gravitation. Their bodies were thoroughly examined and carefully excavated from the void they were found in. Shoveled Future relics materially culminate while being dug out. Their existence depends on the speculation and imagination of the observer. Found broken, longing for what is lacking in a changed present, or Future.

What characterises your voluntary commitment in Weimar?

Being a student of public art, I consider it important to be part of the different initiatives and collectives in order to collaborate, exchange and contribute. As a multidisciplinary artist, working with colleagues from different fields such as urbanism and architecture brings another layer to my work and expands the possibilities my idea can embody. Therefore, being responsible for the artspace kiosk.6 as well as being a scout at Culture Talk Weimar, has been important for both me as an artist, as well as the community I belong to here. Moreover, the workshops that included traveling to the different cities (Leipzig, Chemnitz) as well as crossing the continent (Cairo and Luxor, Egypt) characterized my overall commitment to both international, and interdisciplinary.
