»Projekt EINS« has begun: former student club with a new concept

A couple faded posters on the ground floor are the only remnants of the old Schützenclub – otherwise everything else is totally different: project-oriented, contemporary, international. »We allow the students to come and do their thing.  The space should be used flexibly since Projekt EINS is designed to be a platform for various projects,« explains Udo Nauber, chairman of the KTW.

For instance various dance courses and panel discussions can take place upstairs, while student project and initiatives can be organized and brought to life downstairs. In particular there is a plan to offer more events for international students since »Projekt EINS« is conceptualized as a meeting place for students from all around the world. For this purpose, a close cooperation with the Bauhaus Internationals is planned.

The official transfer of the house from the Thuringia Student Services to the  Kulturtragwerk e.V. was made on Wednesday. The club has thereby extended its project palette and will now coordinate requests from student representatives from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Liszt School of Music Weimar. Moreover, the club also supports the annual soap box derby »SpaceKidHeadCup«, the university gallery »marke.6«, the Lucia publisher as well as the student association for refugees.

»Projekt EINS« has begun: former student club with a new concept

Since January, Weimar has a new place to offer students to hang out - »Projekt EINS«. The paint was still drying on the walls during the official start of the project on 21 January 2015. The project is run in coordination between the Kulturtragwerk e. V. (KTW) and various other student initiatives in Weimar - the goal of the project: to revive the home of the former student club in the Schützengasse.
