The Germany Scholarship [Deutschlandstipendium] is a programme initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and Germanys institutions of higher education. The goal is to expand the nationwide Excellence Initiative through the joint involvement of government and civil society.
Promoting the brightest minds
The Germany Scholarship is awarded to especially talented and ambitious students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for outstanding academic achievement. An independent review board at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is responsible for selecting the scholarship recipients.
Each scholarship recipient regardless of income or BAföG eligibility is awarded 300 euros per month, which amounts to a total of 3,600 euros per year.
As a private sponsor, you provide the basis for the scholarship by paying the first half of the total sum (1,800 euros). The federal government covers the cost of the second half (1,800 euros).
Commencement and duration
The Germany Scholarship programme started at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar at the start of the winter semester 2011/12. The scholarship recipients are awarded funding for at least one academic year (two semesters).
