Moving beyond the canonical focus on male architects and master narratives of “form following function”, the book shifts attention to the phenomena of Bauhaus itself and overlooked material practices, especially textile work.
Bringing feminist historiography into conversation with object-oriented ontology and vibrant materialism, the book asks: What happens when we decenter the human in Bauhaus history? How might we understand Bauhaus not only as a celebrated movement of modernist innovation, but as a complex ecosystem of materials, structures, and overlooked bodies?
The book contains interviews with such prominent philosophers and theoreticians as Graham Harman, Jane Bennett, and T’ai Smith. As well as artists Judith Raum and Andrea Garcia Vasquez.
The presentation will be held in English. The moderator is yet to be announced.
