Project description
To what extent can we still make a connection when we must keep a distance? Or to what extent can we make a connection even when physical proximity is not an issue? Social distancing has become a popular topic in light of corona, but the truth is, distance and separation have existed long before the virus, and long before people became consciously aware of the distance they need to keep between each other, they have already been "quarantined" in their own minds, beliefs, perspectives, comfort zones, whether or not they are aware of it.
Bringing the "invisible quarantine of the mind" to the eyes of spectators, the "Quarantined Connections" project is a series of interactive performances urging the public to inquire:
What does it actually take to “make a connection”?
What does it really mean to make a connection?
Are we really living in a world with others?
Or most of the time just in our own minds, walking backwards, opposite of what is truly essential to us?
Let us use this historical moment as an unprecedented opportunity to question our habitual ways of interacting with each other, with ourselves, and the role of the mind vs. the body in our ability to "make connections".
***During the dates of the Summaery 2020, performances at spontaneous times and durations will also be made at Theaterplatz.***
You are invited to watch, using google cardboard or another VR device, a series of 360 immersive public art performances here:
