Update #1 Corona prevention at the Faculty of Art and Design

Dear students,

the start of the semester has been postponed for the time being to 4 May 2020. The latest information on the university's current actions will be made available online on the university's website as soon as possible: www.uni-weimar.de/en/coronavirus

In addition to yesterday's mail from the President of the University, the Faculty of Art and Design is also supporting measures to protect employees and students to prevent the possible spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The most important thing for everyone to stay healthy and protect those who are not so fit is to avoid all forms of social contact.

The Faculty of Art and Design has therefore decided on the following measures as of 18 March 2020:

  • All workshops, studios and student workrooms are closed - at least until 4.5.2020.
  • Lending in the photo workshop, video workshop and Mediapoint is not possible at least until 4.5.2020. If equipment is to be returned, this will be arranged individually (by e-mail) with the workshop staff. If necessary, the equipment will have to be kept at home until 4.5.2020.

  • Access to the student workrooms will be closed. Access to rooms and buildings will be possible until Thursday, 19 March 2020, 4 p.m. Students will still have the opportunity to fetch any items they may need from the workrooms and studios. Group gatherings must be strictly avoided. All students are requested to tidy up and secure their work area and to leave the rooms adequately (e.g. switching off appliances and heating, closing windows, necessary waste disposal).

  • As of Friday, access via the Thoska is closed to students.

  • The closure until 4.5.2020 also affects all other events, exhibitions and the Ph.D. week.

Accessibility in the dean's office and in the secretariats:

  • Visitors are no longer allowed in the buildings. Some employees will also be absent from their workplace (e.g. due to childcare, care and support of relatives, illness). Your enquiries will then be processed by e-mail from the home office. Your requests may be processed with a delay. We ask for your patience and understanding.

Committees:

  • Committee meetings no longer take place on site, work is being done on a solution by video or by circular resolutions.

Examinations:

  • Examinations can be made possible by video with the agreement of the person to be examined. In addition, at least 2 examiners, 1 minute taker and the prior consent of the student are required. This should concern final examinations (Master, Bachelor, State Examination).

Teaching:

  • The entire university and the teaching staff are working on alternatives to attendance studies.

Answers to many inquiries are currently being worked out intensively throughout the university. Individual inquiries cannot always be answered. Therefore, we would like to refer you to the e-mails of the Presidential Board and to the website: www.uni-weimar.de/en/coronavirus

Take care of yourself and your families. Stay healthy!

On behalf of the faculty management
Annett Habisreuther
Managing Director
