Prof. Peter Benz and Members of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Visit Partner Universities in Greece, Albania and Portugal
In June 2024, members of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be travelling to partner universities in Thessaloniki (Greece) and Tirana (Albania) as part of the BAUHAUS4EU University Alliance. The aim is to increase cooperation within the alliance and to plan future projects. A visit to the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece from 17 to 18 June is the first stop on the trip. Following this, from 19 to 23 June, the delegation will visit Polis University in Tirana, Albania, which specialises in architecture, urbanism, civil engineering, and design.
»I’m looking forward to promoting the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance project through these visits and the anticipated in-depth discussions at the partner universities in Thessaloniki and Tirana. We will be meeting with EU project funding experts who will enrich the Alliance in regards to geography and culture. I’m also delighted that a number of professors and staff members will be joining us. This will allow us to collect and analyse our experiences together and discuss the next steps. In doing so, we will be increasing the opportunities for internationalisation at our university and providing a broad range of possibilities that will benefit all status groups«, explains University President, Prof. Peter Benz.
The trips are intended to promote dialogues in the fields of administration, research and teaching. The programme includes meetings with the university directorates, lab and research centre visits, and discussions between departments. In Albania, a meeting has been scheduled with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and the Deputy Mayor of Tirana.
Prof. Peter Benz will be accompanied on both trips by Dr. Christian Kästner and Dr. Tonia Schmitz. Other university members who will be participating are Chancellor Dr. Horst Henrici, Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes, Prof. Dr. Stefan Lucks, Anke Schultz, and StuKo (Student Government) student representative Milla Semisch (specialising in sustainability). Two representatives from the University of Music FRANZ LISZT, Dr. Jens Ewen and Prof. Tiago de Oliveira Pinto, will also be joining the trip.
Prof. Dr. Tom Lahmer, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Lars Abrahamczyk, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Grischa Bertram, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jasper Cepl, Dr. Andreas Mai, Claudia Goldammer, and Kartik Bist from the StuKo (Student Government) (»Bauhaus Internationals«) will travel to Tirana.
