
Delegation trip to Russia: Chancellor strengthens collaboration with Muscovite construction academy and universities in Uljanowsk
At the beginning of June, the Thuringian Prime Minister, Christine Lieberknecht, traveled for two days to Uljanowsk and Moscow. Prof Dr-Ing Karl Beucke, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, accompanied the Prime Minister and led conversations with representatives of the National Technical University Uljanowsk and the National University Uljanowsk. In addition, he arranged a more intensive professional exchange with members of the Moscow Academy for Construction Engineering and Building Material Research and advocated for the initiation of cooperation in instruction and research .
The National Technical University and the National University in Uljanowsk are interested above all in a collaboration in the areas of architecture and construction engineering. A visit to Thuringia and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has already been planned for October 2013. A joint workshop then should open further possibilities for collaboration.
A further destination of the delegation trip was Moscow and the academy there for construction engineering and building material research. The Moscow Construction Engineering Academy enjoys an outstanding reputation in the areas of architecture and construction engineering worldwide and, of its type, is the institution richest in tradition in Russia. Numerous historical connections exist between researchers from Germany and Russia. In particular, the relations to Weimar and the forerunners of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar were emphasized during the conversations. In addition, the parties will strive to intensify cooperatioon in the future.
The Thuringian delegation also visited the Muscovite international trade centre "Moskva City", which is an icon of Russian urban development. Through discussions of urban planning developments and construction site visits, the participants of the delegation were able to get a comprehensive picture of the current situation of the prestigious project.
