»I am incredibly grateful to all those who have supported me over the past five years, who have advised me and who have contradicted me, who have challenged me. I will stay connected to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, through friendships, joint projects and many more encounters. I am certain that the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will stay on a promising path and is, with Vice President Professor Emes, in very good hands.«
Professor Speitkamp took on the office of President in April 2017. His work focussed on, among other things, the organisation and implementation of the Bauhaus Centenary in 2019; the New European Bauhaus project; the acquisition of funding for numerous professorships and junior professorships; the negotiation of the university framework agreement with the State of Thuringia, as well as the associated funding until 2025; the expansion of innovative teaching formats, such as the Bauhaus.Modules; the reorganisation of the university committees and the University Charter; and the management of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
