CITY CYCLING 2024: Gold for the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as Most Active Educational Institution
Nearly 1,600 participants cycled in Weimar this year, saving 45 tonnes of CO2. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar team included 67 participants from all status groups at the university. The team covered a total of 11,039 kilometres in the period from 1 to 21 May, which is the distance between Weimar and Buenos Aires, Argentina!
On Friday, 14 June, the university was presented with a gold award for its efforts during the closing ceremony held by the City of Weimar at the »Wohnlabor« in front of the Stadtschloss.
A portal was used for cyclists to record their kilometres travelled and the data is available to the municipalities. This allows municipal planners to see which routes are particularly busy and how long the waiting times at traffic lights are.
The CITY CYCLING organisational team at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, which includes Carolin Wick and Steven Mac Nelly, wishes to thank all cyclists and supporters.
