Impressions of the Winterwerkschau 2022

On Friday, 4 February 2022, the three-day Winterwerkschau started its fifth edition. Under special pandemic conditions, the students of the Bauhaus.Module, who planned the event independently and on their own responsibility, realised a fantastic show. Up to 340 people were allowed to be present on location for the broadcast of two livestreams in the outdoor space of the campus under 2G+ regulations. There were detailed hygiene concepts for presence exhibitions.

Conference on the Postmodern Legacy in Architecture and Urbanism

On 3–5 March 2022, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and ETH Zurich will host a joint conference to explore the legacy of postmodern architecture and urbanism dating from the 1970s to the 1990s. The conference aims to engage in a scholarly examination of architectural and historical research on this topic and to discuss the monument-preserving approach to the testimonies of postmodernism as well as their further development.

Online, live and with a hygienic concept - the students' »Winterwerkschau« goes new ways

From 4 to 6 February 2022, the »Winterwerkschau« will take place for the fifth time as a student semester show of the Faculty of Art and Design. For the first time, students from the three other faculties of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the University of Music FRANZ LISZT will also participate in the format. Digital projects, films, music works, products, architecture, art and much more will be shown on 64 project websites, in a total of ten hours of live streaming and on 3,400 square meters of exhibition space.

»smood« Joint Project at Expo 2020 in Dubai

The Thuringia Alliance, which the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar belongs to, is currently presenting an interactive exhibit that examines visionary ideas for environmentally friendly neighbourhoods. Interested visitors are invited to explore the exhibition in the German Pavilion until 31 March 2022.

Diébédo Francis Kéré, Architect and Bauhaus Guest Professor, Challenges Students to Shape the Future

Picking up where he left off, Prof. Diébédo Francis Kéré provided inspiring insights into his work during his second visit to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, this time with a focus on participatory architecture. In an experimental workshop format on Wednesday 19 January 2022, which Prof. Kéré led together with Dipl.-Ing. Julia Heinemann, scientific staff member in the Building Morphology Department, architecture students were given the opportunity to engage with the concept of participatory processes and develop daring design ideas.

Winterwerkschau and go4spring: students present their work at the end of the semester

On two following weekends in February, students of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will give an insight into their work from this winter semester: From 4 to 6 February 2022, the student-organised »Winterwerkschau« will present projects from various disciplines. From 10 February 2022, the semester results from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism will be on display as part of the »go4spring«. Due to the pandemic, the students are largely using online formats to present their work.

Alexander Benz gewinnt Nachwuchs-Innovationspreis Bauwerkserhaltung 2021

Für seine herausragende Masterarbeit zum Thema »Automatisierte bildbasierte Bestimmung des Gebäudealters« ist Alexander Benz, wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Professur Bauphysik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, mit dem diesjährigen Nachwuchs-Innovationspreis Bauwerkserhaltung ausgezeichnet worden. Er erhielt die Würdigung im Rahmen der feierlichen Preisverleihung am Freitag, 5. November, in Lübeck.

Dokumentarfilm der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar gewinnt bei Filmfestival »Cinema e Ambiente Avezzano«

Das Dokumentarfilmprojekt »Handmade in Bangladesh« von Florian Wehking, künstlerischer Mitarbeiter der Professur Siedlungswasserwirtschaft an der Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen, und Prof. Liz Bachhuber, langjährige Professorin des Studiengangs Freie Kunst, sind am 30. Oktober 2021 mit dem Preis für den besten abendfüllenden Dokumentarfilm in der Kategorie »No Planet B« des Filmfestivals »Cinema e Ambiente Avezzano« in Avezzano (Italien) ausgezeichnet worden.

Marialuisa Capurso presents live radio performances and exhibition at Galerie Eigenheim

On 3 and 4 December 2021, 7 p.m. each day, Marialuisa Capurso, the current holder of the Radio Art Residency Weimar, will present the latest state of her work in two live performances. On 11 and 12 December 2021, the accompanying exhibition can be seen at Galerie Eigenheim in Weimar. Performances and exhibition mark the final phase of her artist residency in Weimar.

Wissenschaftstag 2021 rückt die Perspektive des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses in den Mittelpunkt

Was bewegt Forschende nach der Promotion dazu, eine wissenschaftliche Karriere einzuschlagen? Dass es vor allem die Freude an der intensiven inhaltlichen Auseinandersetzung ist, zeigte sich eindrucksvoll in Fachvorträgen und Elevator Pitches, aber auch verschiedenen Auszeichnungen während des Wissenschaftstags 2021 am Mittwoch, 17. November 2021. Organisiert wurde die jährliche Veranstaltung in diesem Jahr im hybriden Format: im Audimax führte das Team des Dezernats Forschung und der Bauhaus Research School vor einem Publikum durch das Programm, während weitere Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer sich online zuschalten und per Voting und Chat am Wissenschaftstag beteiligen konnten.

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar für »Innovationspreis der deutschen Mobilitätswirtschaft« nominiert

Mobilitätsangebote mittels künstlicher Intelligenz kombinieren und somit Verkehrschaos, Parkplatzsuche und Umweltverschmutzung vermeiden: Die Professur Verkehrssystemplanung der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Freiburger Unternehmen highQ Computerlösungen GmbH eine Lösung entwickelt, die es schafft, Mobilitätsangebote auf einer Plattform zu bündeln und Vorgänge damit zu optimieren. Dafür sind die Forschungspartner gemeinsam für den diesjährigen »Innovationspreis der deutschen Mobilitätswirtschaft« in der Kategorie »Projekte/Produkte« nominiert.

Abschlussfilm »FLUTEN« feiert Premiere in Weimar mit Werkstattgespräch

Nach der Festivalpremiere bei den 53. Hofer Filmtagen, feiert das improvisierte Spielfilmdrama »FLUTEN« am Freitag, 5. November 2021, 19.15 Uhr seine Weimar-Premiere im Lichthaus Kino. Der Abschlussfilm im Studiengang Medienkunst/Mediengestaltung über einen Start-up Mitarbeiter, der seiner Freundin seine Kündigung verschweigt, ist das Langfilmdebüt von Regisseur Georg Pelzer.

The Society for Artistic Research (SAR) conference will take place at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar from 29 March to 2 April 2022. Artists and theorists from all over the world who are dedicated to the field of artistic research are expected to attend. This is the first time the event will be held in Germany.

International Heritage Centre to be founded at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will gain a new academic institution: the International Heritage Centre will be founded with a ceremony on Friday, 15 October 2021, 1 pm in the Audimax. The new centre will promote international and interdisciplinary cooperation in relation to cultural heritage. The significance of our cultural heritage in the face of global changes such as digitalisation and climate change will be the centre’s main focus, as will the question of what demands heritage places on science and society. All interested parties are welcome to attend the founding ceremony.

On Thursday, 14 October 2021, the Faculty of Media celebrates its 25th anniversary with a festive event in the Audimax at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Founded in October 1996, the Faculty of Media launched a concept which was unique in Germany: investigating media in their many forms from a technical as well as an arts-oriented perspective.
