Second Exhibition at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s University Gallery Presents Works from the Field of Artistic Research

Seven artists from the Faculty of Art and Design who combine their work with practical and/or academic research will be presenting their work in the »Spooky Action« exhibition at the »nova space« temporary gallery in Erfurt starting on Wednesday, 29 June 2022. The exhibition is part of the SAR International Conference on Artistic Research, which will take place from 30 June to 3 July 2022 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes: »Ideenlabor 2022« Delivers Valuable Inspiration

Climate Crisis, Animal Extinction, Sustainability Crisis - But What’s Actually Happening? Dr. Gregor Hagedorn, co-founder of »Scientists for Future« and Academic Director of the »Museum für Naturkunde«, Berlin, concluded that targeted action has so far been too little and too late. His lecture kicked-off the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s »Ideenlabor 2022« on 10 June 2022. Dr. Hagedorn set the tone for the subsequent talks on, among other topics, sustainable living spaces, monument protection and equality.

Save the Date: summaery2022 Annual Exhibition Focuses on the Question of »Wer weiß? | Who knows?«

After two years of pandemic, this year’s annual exhibition Ucan finally once again take place on the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus. From 14 to 17 July 2022, studios, workrooms and seminar rooms will be transformed into exhibition spaces and visitors invited to learn more about the projects completed by the four faculties and their departments in the current academic year.

First »Campus Pride Week« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Focuses on Sexual and Gender Diversity

The first »Campus Pride Week« will be held from 20 to 26 June 2022 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on the occasion of »Christopher Street Day (CSD) Weimar«. Throughout this week, sexual and gender diversity will be celebrated on campus and the spotlight will be on queer art and culture. The diverse programme invites people to engage with the complex realities that queer people encounter and offers the opportunity for exchanges and interactions, as well as spaces for networking and strengthening queer communities on campus.

2022 Long Night of Academic Writing: Together with »Writers for Future« for Greater Sustainability in Writing

Which strategies and tools can help us to work in a more environmentally friendly way? Which initiatives and research projects are committed to sustainability in research, writing and publishing? And how does a library become more ecological? The 8th Long Night of Academic Writing will take place at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on 23 June 2022 from 6 pm until midnight. With its motto of »writing for future«, it aims to raise awareness for greater sustainability in everyday writing and research. Visitors are invited to take advantage of the more than 20 different offers in German and English to inform themselves, try things out and discuss these, both in person and online.

CITY CYCLING 2022: Protecting the Environment by Cycling

The world’s largest cycling campaign »CITY CYCLING« is taking place for the 15th time and is encouraging people to cycle for the benefit of the environment. The Climate Alliance, the largest European city network dedicated to fair and comprehensive climate action, is calling on municipalities and citizens to cycle as many kilometres as possible for three weeks between May and September. In addition to climate protection, the campaign also aims to promote cycling. A team from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is also participating.

Kluge Ideen in technische Konzepte umsetzen, das ist der Kern des Ingenieurwesens. Doch wie gelingt der Wandel hin zu einer modernen Gesellschaft, die nachhaltig denkt und handelt? Unter dem Motto »transformING« lädt die Thüringer Allianz für Ingenieurwissenschaften am 29. Juni 2022 von 10 bis 17 Uhr alle Interessierten zum Thementag an die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ein. Präsentiert werden innovative Projekte aus den Bereichen Forschung, Lehre und Transfer.

»LevelOut« Project Launch - Indoor and Outdoor Smart Navigation

Orienting yourself in public spaces is a piece of cake with map services and city models. But how can floor plans and the interior data of buildings be automatically integrated? This is the question currently being investigated by Dr. Helga Tauscher, associate professor for Computing in Civil Engineering at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The preliminary study of the »Levelout« project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as a part of the mFUND innovation initiative with a total of 95,000 euros over the course of one year until March 2023.

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar auf der Hannover Messe 2022

Bei der diesjährigen Hannover Messe, einer Industriemesse mit internationaler Bedeutung, die vom 30. Mai bis 2. Juni 2022 in Hannover stattfindet, präsentiert sich auch die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Mit dabei sind Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler der Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen, die zwei ihrer Forschungsprojekte vorstellen: »3D-Geo: Kunstsandstein aus dem 3D-Drucker« und »AISTEC: Digitale Bauwerksinspektion«.

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar lädt zum UNESCO-Welterbetag 2022 ein

Am 5. Juni 2022 können die Welterbestätten in Deutschland wieder digital und vor Ort erkundet werden. Unter dem Motto »50 Jahre Welterbekonvention: Erbe erhalten – Zukunft gestalten« rücken die 51 deutschen Welterbestätten die Bedeutung sowie die Wirkung des weltweit bekannten Schutzinstruments für das Kultur- und Naturerbe in den Mittelpunkt. Mit dabei ist auch die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, die mit zwei besonderen Welterbe-Spaziergängen auf den Spuren des frühen Bauhauses in Weimar wandelt.

Invitation to Participate in the Design and Discussion on the »Ideenlabor« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

How do we want to live in the future? How can we make our lives more sustainable, socially just and liveable? The European Union has called for the consideration of just these questions together with attendees of the festival taking place in June as part of its New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative. As an official partner of the NEB, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will host an »Ideenlabor« on Friday, 10 June 2022, and invites all interested parties to come discuss, inspire and experiment.

The current holders of the Radio Art Residency, the artist duo from Buenos Aires (Argentina), Florencia Curci and Agustin Genoud, will present the results of their residency in Weimar on Sunday, 5 June 2022, 7 pm. »Ein Mund voll Wald« proposes a drift into a vocal territory. How can we design urban, political and social spaces - based on the sense of hearing?

From 24 to 26 June 2022, sound theorists and artists will come together at the Faculty of Art and Design at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for the international conference »I am not sitting in a room - urban, political and social resonances«. Together they will explore urban, political and social spaces on a sonic level in three thematic blocks. The interdisciplinary conference will focus on the question of how our environment would change if we were to shape it based on what we hear.
