University Gallery »nova space« invites audiences to a screening evening at Kino mon ami
On the occasion of the upcoming publication of the comprehensive volume »BOOM! 7 Years of nova space«, the University Gallery of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is hosting a screening evening on Monday, February 2, 2026, under the title »BOOM! Shifts, upheaval and new beginnings in art«. The screening is open to all members of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
The programme presents a curated selection of outstanding artistic films, video works, short films and music videos that engage with ruptures, upheavals, new beginnings or the literal boom or bang.
The works shown are by internationally renowned artists including Ed Atkins, Dara Birnbaum, Eli Cortiñas, Cyprien Gaillard, Camille Henrot, Arthur Jafa, Kristina Paustian, Mika Rottenberg, Hito Steyerl and Sung Tieu. Many of these works are usually only accessible in museum or biennials contexts. Katharina Wendler, curator of the University Gallery, emphasises: »That these works can be experienced together here as a curated screening is a rare opportunity. I am all the more pleased that this evening can now take place in Weimar.«
The publication »BOOM! 7 Years of nova space« will be released by the renowned publishing house Dr Cantz’sche Verlagsgesellschaft (DCV). The book documents and brings together all of the gallery’s activities between 2019 and 2025 and includes, as its 21st project, an exhibition in book form.
