First Ever »Bauhaus Colloquium for Emerging Researchers« Brings Next Generation of Researchers Together
On 5 and 6 March, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Pro.Doc Doctoral Council hosted the first ever »Bauhaus Colloquium for Emerging Researchers«. The two-day conference offered doctoral candidates and up-and-coming scientists from various disciplines the chance to present their research approaches and, more importantly, exchange ideas on methodologies.
The Colloquium attracted considerable attention in the lead-up to the event and over 60 contributions were submitted. The organisation team selected 21 presentations for the event programme. Over 90 participants registered for the event. In addition to researchers from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, participants from other universities and international guest also attended the event.
The conference focussed on interdisciplinary exchange concerning research methods. The contributions reflected the thematic diversity represented by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar – from architecture, art and design to civil engineering and urban studies to media and communication studies.
The Colloquium kicked off with welcoming remarks by Prof. Daniela Spiegel, Director of the Bauhaus Research School, and Prof. Peter Benz, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Two keynote speeches provided additional momentum for discussion: Prof. Mona Mahall spoke on »The Frame of Artistic Research«, and Prof. Lars Abrahamczyk spoke about the role of methodological approaches in interdisciplinary research in his lecture »Advanced Structures: Between Interdisciplinarity and Methods«.
The Colloquium offered numerous opportunities for informal discussions alongside the presentations. Coffee breaks with snacks created spaced for conversation and networking. During the evening of the first conference day, participants met up for an informal »Come Together«.
The »Bauhaus Colloquium for Emerging Researchers« was organized by Gustavo Cosenza, Pedro Romero, Tilman Levine, Maxi-Josephine Rauch, Elisa Rufenach-Ruthenberg, Lisa Rein, and Mikhail Tolmachev in collaboration with the Bauhaus Research School.
