»BOOM!«: nova space celebrates seven years of the University Gallery with exhibition and publication
With the newly released publication »BOOM!«, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s University Gallery »nova space« looks back on seven years of exhibition practice. At the same time, readers can expect a surprise: an exhibition in a book. The project will be presented for the first time at an exhibition opening and book release on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, at 6 p.m.
Since 2019, »nova space« has realised exhibitions at changing locations while exploring different forms of exhibiting. The publication »BOOM!« brings together 20 projects from 2019 to 2025 and honours around 250 participating artists as well as numerous other contributors. Edited by Katharina Wendler, the book combines essays, short texts and documentary visual material.
At the same time, the publication understands itself as an exhibition space. Under the title »BOOM! – an exhibition in a book«, it forms the 21st project of »nova space«. Invited artists, designers, writers and architects develop individual contributions that engage with the term »Boom« and address questions of space, transformation and compression.
With this approach, »nova space« continues its curatorial practice of expanding exhibition formats and thinking them beyond a fixed location. The publication is published by DCV, Berlin.
