Erfolge bei VR/AR-Festival »Laval Virtual 2025«: Alumni der Fakultät Medien ausgezeichnet

Gleich zwei Projekte mit Verbindung zur Fakultät Medien der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar wurden in der vergangenen Woche beim renommierten Laval Virtual 2025 in Frankreich ausgezeichnet – der wichtigsten europäischen Veranstaltung für Virtual, Augmented und Mixed Reality.

Two projects with connections to the Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar were honoured last week at the Laval Virtual 2025 in France, the most important European event for virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.

»The Future of Democracy« – Invitation to the Second Event of the »BEYOND NOW ⸺ Questions on the Future of Society« Series on 24 April

The second part of the event series will focus on a variety of questions about the future of our democracy. Democracy did not simply appear out of nowhere and it is not a guaranteed success. For the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the experiences of National Socialist, the GDR, reunification, and the post-reunification period all shaped and influenced the understanding of democracy, as was demonstrated in the last elections. How should universities deal with this? How should the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar deal with this?

Two Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Projects Make it to the RIMOWA Design Prize 2025 Final

Two Bauhaus-Universität Weimar student projects have made it to the final of the prestigious RIMOWA Design Prize 2025. The »TONBO« design by Marius Kintzel and Julian Solmsdorff and the »Standalone« design by Tom Kemter and Niels Cremer stood out to the international jury from the numerous entries submitted from across Germany. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 13 May 2025.

Reconstruction After the War – Prospectives for a Sustainable Syria

At least two million buildings have been destroyed in Syria as a result of the war. The majority of these buildings were concrete or steel structures. An international workshop scheduled to take place in Weimar on 24 and 25 April 2024 will focus on the rubble from these buildings can be recycled into valuable raw material. Nearly 100 partners from science, the industry, and politics, including the United Nations (UN), are expected to attend the event.

Prof. Ursula Damm Wins »Kunst am Bau« Competition in Berlin

Ursula Damm, professor and media artist in the Faculty of Art and Design, has been awarded first prize in the »Kunst am Bau« competition for her design »Eine biologische Uhr« (a biological clock). The competition coincided with the construction of the new »Kooperationsgebäudes Biodiversität« on campus at the Freie Universität Berlin. The jury recommended that Damm’s idea be implemented.

Vortragsreihe zu Umweltgerechtigkeit und räumlicher Gerechtigkeit

Im Sommersemester 2025 lädt das Institut für Europäische Urbanistik (IfEU) jeweils dienstags, 18.30 Uhr bis 20 Uhr, zu einer englischsprachigen Ringvorlesung ein, die sich mit den sozial-ökologischen Krisen der Zeit beschäftigt. Die erste Veranstaltung ist am 22. April 2025.
