This year, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is again celebrating its Campus Pride Week with a multifaceted programme and is committed to queer visibility and gender equality: From Monday, 16 June to Saturday, 21 June, numerous initiatives, representatives, and university departments are inviting all university members and interested guests to events on queer topics.

As part of the long-standing collaboration between the NHRE master degree program at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), our students had the opportunity yesterday to participate in the annual academic excursion to Potsdam. This tradition, now running for over a decade, provides the students with an invaluable blend of historical, scientific, and interdisciplinary insight.

Vom Bauteil bis zum Haus aus dem 3D-Drucker: Das Potenzial von additiver Fertigung in Architektur und Bauwesen ist riesig. Doch wie verändert die Technologie das Handwerk, wie wirken die neuen Formen auf Mensch und Umwelt und was steckt eigentlich hinter dem Hype? Mit 3D-gedruckten Objekten aus Beton möchten Dr.-Ing. Fabian Ehle, M. Sc. Timon Echt und Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Luise Göbel aufklären und den Fertigungsprozess im Rahmen des Projektes »Print4PR« erfahrbar machen.

From a building component to a house using a 3D printer: Additive manufacturing offers huge potential for architecture and construction. But how is technology changing the craft? How do these new forms affect individuals and the environment? And what is behind all the hype? Dr. Fabian Ehle, M. Sc. Timon Echt and Jr. Prof. Dr. Luise Göbel want to shed light on this using 3D-printed objects made of concrete, making the manufacturing process tangible as part of the »Print4PR« project.

Mit dem Master-Studiengang »Media Ecologies« erweitert die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ihr internationales Lehrangebot: Dieses innovative und forschungsorientierte Programm untersucht die komplexen Beziehungen zwischen Medien und ökologischen Systemen und ermöglicht Studierenden, Medien nicht nur als isolierte Technologien, sondern als komplexe Netzwerke und Milieus zu verstehen, die unsere Wahrnehmung und unser Verständnis von Umwelt maßgeblich beeinflussen.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is expanding its range of international courses with the »Media Ecologies« Master’s degree programme: The innovative, research-based programme explores the complex relationships between media and ecological systems, teaching students to understand media not just as isolated technology, but as complex networks and environments that significantly influence our perception and understanding of the environment.

MDR next, das Förderprogramm für innovative digitale Projekte im Mitteldeutschen Rundfunk (MDR), gastiert am Dienstag, 17. Juni 2025, um 11 Uhr in der Medienvilla der Fakultät Medien. Interessierte Studierende erhalten exklusive Einblicke in die Innovationsarbeit des MDR mit dem Fokus auf Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) und zukünftige Herausforderungen im öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunk. Der Vortrag findet im Rahmen des Projektmoduls »Innovationsmanagement und Medien« von Prof. Dr. Reinhard Kunz, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Laura Hesse und Sebastian Cramer statt.

Im Rahmen des bundesweiten Women in Architecture Festivals (WIA25), das vom 19. bis 29. Juni 2025 mit über 260 Veranstaltungen stattfindet, laden der BDA Thüringen, die Stiftung Baukultur Thüringen und die Architektenkammer Thüringen zu einem Austausch in Kahla ein.

Vom 18. bis 21. Juni 2025 organisieren Wissenschaftler*innen der Fakultät Medien der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar gemeinsam mit dem Department of Comparative Thought and Literature der Johns-Hopkins University, Baltimore, ihr erstes Summer Lab in Weimar. Dieser Auftakt ist der Beginn einer fortdauernden Kooperation zwischen den beiden Institutionen, die Forschende aus beiden Ländern zusammenbringen möchte, um sich aus philosophischer, medien-, politik- und literaturwissenschaftlicher Perspektive mit dem Begriff der Natur auseinanderzusetzen. Teilnehmen wird auch Jane Bennett, renommierte Politikwissenschaftlerin der Johns-Hopkins University, die bereits 2023 als Bauhaus-Gastprofessorin in Weimar gastierte.

From 18 to 21 June 2025, scientists from the Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Department of Comparative Thought and Literature at Johns-Hopkins University in Baltimore are organising their first Summer Lab in Weimar. The event marks the beginning of an ongoing cooperation between the two institutions, which is aiming to bring researchers from both countries together to explore the concept of nature from philosophical, media, political, and literary perspectives. Jane Bennett, renowned political scientist at Johns Hopkins University, was already a Bauhaus Guest Professor in Weimar in 2023, and will also be taking part.
