Wie viel Eingriff braucht ein Gebäude? Architekturstudierende zeigen in einem Entwurfsstudio an der Professur Bauentwurfslehre am Beispiel von DDR-Typenschulen, wie technische Reduktion und Materialbewusstsein räumliche Qualität im Bestand erzeugen können.

How can we actively oppose right-wing radicalisation online? And how can we combat hatred and hate speech on social media? Between 2 and 5 September, students from all disciplines are invited to explore just these issues in greater depth and to learn how to counteract them creatively during a block seminar on strategies for de-radicalisation on social media (»Künstlerisch forschende Strategien zur De-Radikalisierung auf Social Media«).

This year, the Herder Prize, which is endowed with 2,000 euros, is being conferred to students from the teacher training programme in Fine Art Education (Secondary School) (»Lehramt an Gymnasien Kunst«). In the programme’s introductory project entitled »Almost Perfect« (Fast Perfekt), the prospective teachers explored the topic of »Perfection«. The prize acknowledges artistically sophisticated and innovative work offering contemporary interpretations of Johann Gottfried Herder’s ideas, which addresses social challenges and proposes creative long-term solutions.

15 Teilnehmende der Bauhaus Summer School verbrachten vom 22. bis 24. August ein gemeinsames Wochenende im Vessertal und erkundeten unter Leitung von Elodie Vittu (Institut für Europäische Urbanistik) und Britta Trostorff (Naturstiftung David) das Verhältnis von Mensch und Natur und suchten dabei auch nach Spuren und Ansätzen des sozialökologischen Wandels.

How inclusive is the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar? On 21 August 2025, Jürgen Dusel (Federal Commissioner for the Interests of Persons with Disabilities) visited to learn more about inclusion at our university. He encouraged those present to continue to work passionately to break down barriers and champion inclusive structures. After all, society as a whole ultimately benefits if everyone can participate in all available offers. »Accessibility is not there for ›the others,‹ but for all of us,« Dusel emphasised.

On 3 September 2025, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will host the 10th meeting on racism in schools in Thuringia (»Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage«). According to the motto of »Us against racism. Us with courage.« participants from existing and prospective Courage Schools across Thuringia and their cooperation partners will come together to address the topics of racism, anti-discrimination and diversity in workshops, discussions and creative projects.
