Project description

Geometrical irregularities are quite typical in both existing and new masonry buildings especially with respect to irregular arrangement of openings. Whereas, the irregularities derived often from the frequent structural interventions experienced by the structures along the time and/or specific structural or architectonical needs. The study of the effectiveness of simplified modelling methods in simulating the presence of geometrical irregularities has consequently a considerable relevance. The presence of irregularities can induce, in fact, greater uncertainties in the definition of the equivalent static schemes and reduce the effectiveness of the Equivalent Frame Method in simulating the wall’s structural performance.
