Project description

In this seminar "Feministische Stadt- Feminist City", which was also held online for us and with us students at the Bauhaus University during Corona in the summer semester of 2020, the feminist city was the central theme of the seminar.

We first asked ourselves the question of what a feminist city should look like, using the example of Weimar – both realistically pragmatic and utopianly idealistic. From equal rights for all people, to the quota of women and the question of housing, different perspectives came together. We worked out these perspectives together in theoretical inputs, practical workshops and collective discussions. Since we are attending different courses of study, we were able to exchange views on feminism in the city across disciplines. It was important for us to understand how social conditions of reproduction, care and maintenance are structured. The aim of the seminar was to collectively develop a vision for a feminist city in the course of the seminar.

>> Our blog spatialfeminism.net and publication is therefore the documentation of this learning process. The focus was on trying out games and developing role model portraits in order to be able to trace feminist spatial actions and those of selected female actors.
