My research lies at the intersection of Information Retrieval, Human-Centered AI, and Computational Humanities/Social Science. I investigate how AI systems shape access to information, knowledge, and culture, and how people can remain informed, reflective, and in control when interacting with these systems.
A central focus of my work is the study of algorithmically curated information environments, particularly personalized social media feeds. I develop methods for collecting and analyzing digital behavioral data and explore how recommender systems influence information exposure, cultural representation, and user agency. This includes work on the Feed Nutrition Label, an approach that makes algorithmic curation more transparent and supports more conscious social media use.
Another research direction concerns conversational and AI-assisted access to scholarly knowledge. I investigate how large language models can support the exploration of scientific literature and knowledge graphs, with applications such as the IR Anthology and conversational interfaces for digital libraries.
More recently, I have also been exploring multimodal AI storytelling and interactive narrative systems, studying how generative AI can enable new forms of human-computer interaction, collaborative storytelling, and cultural experiences.
