FAQs für Outgoing Exchange Students
A semester abroad offers valuable professional and personal experience. The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering supports students in planning and organizing a study visit to a partner university.
Important information on applications, deadlines, and recognition of credits can be found in the FAQ for outgoing students:
You will find all the important information and documents you need for your study abroad program in the International Office's download center. Before your stay abroad, you will need to fill out a learning agreement.
A learning agreement is an agreement between the student, the home university, and the host university and must be completed before the stay. Please note the following:
From now on, learning agreements must be created via the OLA platform (https://learning-agreement.eu/).
Students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are now required to create their learning agreements via the Online Learning Agreement (OLA) platform. Please follow the process (see instructions) as far as possible via the OLA platform and, if necessary, switch from editing via the OLA platform to sending the Learning Agreement by email to the partner university.
Background to the switch to “online” learning agreements via the learning-agreement.eu platform:
The EU Commission has required all European universities to introduce “ERASMUS Without Paper.” This goes hand in hand with the obligation to digitize central processes in the ERASMUS program. The creation of learning agreements is one of the processes that must be digitized. Unfortunately, not all European universities are ready to process learning agreements online. We ask for your understanding in this matter with regard to the partner universities.
Please consult with your respective academic advisor. Link: https://www.uni-weimar.de/de/bau-und-umwelt/studium/allgemeine-informationen/studienberatung/
In the final step, submit the learning agreements (section: “BEFORE mobility”) signed by all three parties to the International Counsellor by email.
Check the website of your host university for information about the courses offered. If you cannot find any information for the coming academic year, please refer to the courses offered in the current academic year.
It is common for courses to change during a stay abroad, sometimes even several times. A change to the learning agreement due to changed courses is possible within a period of up to four weeks after the start of the lecture period at the partner university. The section: “DURING mobility” must be signed again by you, the partner university, and the academic advisor and submitted. // See “OLAGuide Instructions” under “Changes to Online Learning Agreement.”
The transcript of records (ToR) documents a student's performance by listing the courses completed, the ECTS credits earned, and the local grades achieved. You will receive this from the exchange university. You may need to request this, so it is best to check with the partner university before you leave.
For the recognition and crediting of grades, students submit the ToR to their International Counsellor. The academic advisor reviews the credits earned and decides on the recognition to be granted. Credits are credited centrally by the International Counsellor.
Information on extending your stay abroad can be found on the DIB website at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar: Verlängerung (uni-weimar.de).
