Field of research
The main focus of the studies was on the numerical investigation of multi-caisson foundations under cyclic loading, as well as the analysis of the installation process for suction caissons using a coupled Euler-Lagrange analysis.
The current research focus is the OWiCHEL project, which investigates the stability of monopile foundations for offshore wind turbines. Academic research centres on the combined and superimposed effects of long-term cyclic loads from wind and waves, as well as short-term, highly dynamic seismic events. To this end, scaled model tests are carried out on the 1G shake table and hydro-mechanically coupled FE simulations are performed.
