New research project with the University of Western Australia

In collaboration with the University of Western Australia (UWA), three motivated PhD candidates with strong expertise in geotechnical engineering are being sought for research on offshore foundations.

The aim of the project is to improve the understanding of the physical processes involved in vibratory pile driving in various soil types. In addition, the possibility of predicting this response based on cyclic cone penetration tests will be investigated. The selected PhD candidates will conduct a combination of centrifuge model experiments and state-of-the-art numerical simulations to contribute to the advancement of design methods.

The successful candidates will join a large, internationally recognized, and dynamic research group at the University of Western Australia (UWA). They will have access to cutting-edge experimental and numerical facilities and will collaborate closely with industry, regulators, and government agencies in the field of offshore renewable energy.

Applicants should hold a first-class degree in civil engineering and have experience or interest in the field of offshore geotechnics, with a particular focus on offshore wind energy challenges.

The application deadline for the PhD positions is December 15, 2025.
