Since the beginning of the winter semester 2022/23, students at the Professorship of Building Physics, with the support of other professorships, have designed, planned and built an interactive building - the Bauhaus Energy Hub - which represents sustainable and forward-looking architectural, energy and utilisation concepts on the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. 

Both the planning and the construction of the Bauhaus Energy Hub are supported by the interdisciplinary commitment of the students. During the planning process, the following questions had to be answered, among others: How can sustainable building materials be used? How can the Bauhaus Energy Hub be designed to be climate-neutral and energy-autonomous? How can the building be designed as a mobile wooden structure so that it can be tested and experienced at other locations? How can the building realise the communication of environmentally friendly and resource-saving construction? 

The Bauhaus Energy Hub sees itself as a building experiment for testing new sustainability concepts with regard to building materials, systems technology and resource-conscious construction planning. 

The planning of the building was completed in the summer semester of 2023, so that the shell could be built by the students on the campus of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar during the summer months. Before the planning of the systems engineering continues in the winter semester, the topping-out ceremony is to be celebrated on 26 October.
