Bachelor’s Degree Programmes – Admission Requirements
A prerequisite for enrolment on undergraduate degree programmes at our university is proof of general university entrance qualification (Abitur), a subject-specific university entrance qualification, a master craftsman’s examination, a state examination as a technician or as a business administrator, or an equivalent qualification.
Those with vocational qualifications who do not hold a university entrance qualification, but who have successfully completed at least two years’ vocational training followed by at least three years’ professional experience, may undertake a trial period of study in a related degree programme. If you successfully complete the trial period after two semesters, you will be permanently enrolled on your chosen degree programme.
If you are unsure whether your qualification entitles you to study at our university, please contact the Student Office at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar or the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs in your federal state.

Aptitude Assessment
APS Procedure (China, India, Vietnam)
WHAT IS THE CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY THE ACADEMIC EXAMINATION OFFICE?
The Academic Examination Office (APS) is a service provided by the cultural sections of German embassies in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It verifies the documents of applicants who wish to apply to study in Germany with a Chinese, Vietnamese or Indian school or higher education qualification. Once the documents have been successfully verified, applicants receive a certificate. This certificate confirms that the documents submitted are genuine and that the academic achievements are sufficient for study at a German higher education institution.
APS CHINA China 🡢
WHO NEEDS THE CERTIFICATE FROM THE ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT CENTRE?
All applicants who wish to apply to study at a German higher education institution with a Chinese, Vietnamese or Indian school or university qualification. This applies to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes as well as to other study programmes such as the Studienkolleg. An APS certificate is not required only when applying for a PhD programme.
For applications to Master’s programmes, an APS certificate is not required if the qualification for admission to a Master’s programme (a completed undergraduate degree, e.g. a Bachelor’s) was not obtained in China, Vietnam or India. However, applying for a Master’s programme without a certificate from the Academic Examination Office is only possible if the Bachelor’s degree has already been completed and the final degree documents are available. If the Bachelor’s degree has not yet been completed, an APS certificate must be submitted.
Applicants with documents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan do not require a certificate from the Academic Examination Office.
