Seminar New Urban Mobility

A central subject of urban design projects is urban space. This includes city streets and squares, the current use and appearance of which are primarily determined by car traffic requirements.

However, the primary role of the car-friendly city is losing importance and a shift to new models of urban mobility has taken place. Fewer cars create an increase of urban space, which in turn becomes available again for urban living.

This means a paradigm shift for urban planning, and with it, new opportunities and growth for the creation and design of public spaces.

Projects, practices and principles of this new urban mobility will be presented in this seminar. It is in connection with the symposium "New Urban Mobility - The second stage of development” which takes place on April 15th, 2016 in the Oberlichtsaal.
