Profile

The Chair of Urban Planning and Urban Design focuses on the city in its broadest sense: as a place of community and history of civilization; as a space and as an image; as a structural and aesthetic phenomenon; as the subject matter and result of politics and business.

This diverse focus results in a wide subject area of teaching, from the urban design projects to historical and theoretical questions. At the core of consideration is the city as both a living environment and a form of culture that can be read, analyzed or rewritten like a piece of literature or art.

One core focus of our research is the topic "After the car friendly city". The aim is to look back at the history of the car friendly city along with the study of new mobility concepts, both in the context of urban space and discussion of guiding-principles.
