On 10 October 2025 in the Maurice-Halbwachs-Auditorium, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar celebrated the 20th anniversary of the University Library’s new building. President Prof. Peter Benz opened the event with a wink: »We’re all celebrating each other – and all because of this wonderful building.«

Im Sommersemester wurde im Rahmen eines DesignBuild Projektes an der Juniorprofessur Konstruktives Entwerfen und Erproben der ehemaliger Ochsenstall der Domäne Dornburg in einen Ort der Gemeinschaft transformiert. »baunetz CAMPUS« stellt das Projekt vor.

Bits & Bridges @ Bauhaus TechTransferTalks kick off the new semester!

In 2015, a group of international artists walked from Weimar via Dessau to Berlin, tracing the (involuntary) movement of the Bauhaus. Their arrival marked the opening of the 2nd Herbstsalon and the launch of Imaginary Bauhaus. In 2025, they will return with their »Kiosk for a Magic Future« — a transformable place of artistic enchantment. Until November 30, the kiosk invites visitors to performances, films, and discussions to think together about possible futures.

Produktdesign (Product Design) graduate Louise Richter has been awarded prizes in two categories for her piece of furniture for the final stages of life, »BeiStand«. Her piece impressed judges in both the Expert« and the »Consumer« categories. With »BeiStand«, Richter recognised a field that receives little attention: the side table in palliative care settings.

Architecture graduates Henrike Gosda and Felix Iburg were awarded third place in the national JOANES-Preis 2025. Their Master’s thesis »Ein genossenschaftliches Haus an der Fliegersiedlung«, written in the 2024/2025 winter semester, impressed the judges with its boldness, creativity, and consistent honing of cooperative housing designs. The prize is endowed with 1,500 euros and will be presented on 4 November 2025 at the Aedes Architekturforum Berlin.

Auch im Wintersemester lädt die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar gemeinsam mit Partnerinstitutionen zu mehreren Ringvorlesungen ein. Drei Reihen öffnen den interdisziplinären Dialog zu aktuellen gesellschaftlichen, städtebaulichen und ökologischen Fragen – von den Herausforderungen des Wohnens im Krieg über humane Stadtentwicklung, der Normalisierung rechtsextremer Positionen im kommunalen Alltag bis hin zu nachhaltigem Bauen mit Lehm. Interessierte aus Wissenschaft, Praxis und Öffentlichkeit sind herzlich eingeladen, teilzunehmen.
