The Presidium of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has decided to postpone the Open Campus Day that was scheduled to take place on Saturday 7 March 2020.
Following thorough consideration of all existing risks, we feel it is necessary to take this preventative measure in order to avoid putting »hit« participants’ health at risk and to minimize the potential spread of the SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus). This decision was also made to fulfil the university’s responsibility towards our own employees.
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar president, Prof. Dr. Winfried Speitkamp, has stated that “With this decision, we are responding to the uncertainty of those who were planning to visit our university. Based on these concerns, we have decided to postpone the Open Campus Day (hit). A new date will be scheduled so that our staff can provide in-person information as soon as possible on attending our university”.
The Open Campus Day (hit) is attended by around 800 visitors every year. It is an event where visitors can receive one-on-one advice and ask instructors about study programmes and managing their studies. In addition to this, we offer lectures in our lecture halls and group tours through our workshops, lecture halls, and laboratories.
For those who are unable to cancel their visit to Weimar this Saturday, alternative events are currently being organised, such as a stand at the University Library – the main venue for the day’s events – where guests will be welcomed and will receive further information. In addition, e-mail and phone consultations are planned. Details concerning this will be announced shortly.
The Presidium of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar apologizes for the Open Campus Day (hit) cancellation and we thank all participants and guests for your understanding in our decision in taking this preventative measure.
