Welcome to the Computational Social Science Lab! We are an interdisciplinary group at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar studying how AI changes what people say, believe and decide.
We combine computer science with psychology, political science and human-computer interaction to measure what AI systems do to people in everyday use. We build technical prototypes and test them with real people — more than 20,000 study participants so far — complemented by analytical and conceptual work. We aim to make our research useful beyond the academy, to developers, journalists and policymakers. Our findings have been presented to the U.S. Senate and reported in Nature and the Wall Street Journal.
The lab brings together researchers from computer science, the social sciences and the humanities. We are always glad to hear from collaborators and students who share our questions — do get in touch.
