Congratulations to Endegena Ayalew Zelelew on winning the University Prize 2025
On the 15th of October 2025, the University Awards were presented in the Maurice Halbwachs Auditorium by President Prof. Peter Benz at the graduation ceremony. Endegena was honoured with the award for the best master’s thesis in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
As a master’s candidate at our chair, Endegena dedicated his thesis with outstanding commitment to the investigation of soil–structure interaction under earthquake loading. The topic was studied experimentally on the shake table at the laboratory of the Chair of Geotechnics, and numerically using the in-house finite element (FE) code numgeo. The thesis was carried out in close collaboration with, and supervised by, Jun.-Prof. Anastasia Athanasiou from the Chair of Natural Hazards and Structural Resilience.
