International Summer School on Climate-Resilient Urbanism in Milan (29 June – 3 July 2026)
The PGL project will host the “International School of Excellence Experiencing Nature Outside!” at Politecnico di Milano from 29 June to 3 July 2026. Bringing together students, lecturers and international experts, the summer school will focus on climate-resilient urbanism and explore new ways of designing greener and more livable cities.
The programme combines lectures, short pitches, experiential urban walks, climate measurements and collaborative workshops. Participants will examine topics such as urban heat and thermal comfort, microclimate awareness, nature-based solutions, Living Labs, and community engagement. Practical activities around the Leonardo Campus in Milan will allow participants to test methods for climate data collection and develop ideas for climate-sensitive urban design.
The summer school aims to support interdisciplinary exchange by connecting research, teaching, and hands-on experimentation and equip participants with innovative approaches for sustainable urban transformation. More information here.
International Cairo Workshop and ARCHCAIRO X (3–9 April 2026)
Sieben Tage lang kamen Projektpartner, Studierende und Dozenten in Kairo zusammen, um sich mit städtebaulichen Herausforderungen im historischen Stadtteil Al-Khalifa auseinanderzusetzen. Im Rahmen von Exkursionen, Vor-Ort-Analysen, digitaler Dokumentation und gemeinsamen Planungssitzungen entwickelten die Teilnehmer Ideen zu den Themen Begrünung, Denkmalschutz und gemeindeorientierte Entwicklung. Die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar brachte Perspektiven zur gemeindebasierten Stadterneuerung ein und nahm am Pro-GREEN LABs-Rundtischgespräch „Living Labs for Sustainable Urban Futures“ im Rahmen von ARCHCAIRO X teil, bei dem die Projektpartner Erfahrungen und Ansätze für eine nachhaltige Stadtentwicklung austauschten. Die Woche endete mit abschließenden studentischen Präsentationen, in denen die Ergebnisse des Workshops und die Erkenntnisse aus der internationalen Zusammenarbeit zusammengefasst wurden.

Over seven days in Cairo, project partners, students and lecturers came together to work on urban challenges in the historic Al-Khalifa district. Through field visits, on-site analysis, digital documentation and collaborative design sessions, participants developed ideas addressing greening, heritage preservation and community-oriented development. Bauhaus-Universität Weimar contributed perspectives on community-based regeneration and took part in the Pro-GREEN LABs roundtable Living Labs for Sustainable Urban Futures at ARCHCAIRO X, where project partners exchanged experiences and approaches to sustainable urban transformation. The week concluded with final student presentations, bringing together the workshop outcomes and reflections from the international collaboration.

Mit dem Cairo Workshop (3.–9. April 2026) setzt das Projekt »Pro-Green Labs« seine internationale Lehr- und Forschungspartnerschaft im Bereich nachhaltiger Stadtentwicklung fort. Der Workshop findet an der Cairo University statt und ist in die Konferenz ARCHCAIRO X (8.–9. April 2026) eingebettet. Im Fokus steht das historische Viertel Al-Khalifa in Kairo. In interdisziplinären Teams entwickeln Studierende und Lehrende Strategien zur klimaresilienten und denkmalgerechten Weiterentwicklung des Quartiers. With the Cairo Workshop (3–9 April 2026), the ‘Pro-Green Labs’ project continues its international teaching and research partnership in the field of sustainable urban development. The workshop will take place at Cairo University and is part of the ARCHCAIRO X conference (8–9 April 2026). The focus is on the historic Al-Khalifa district in Cairo. Working in interdisciplinary teams, students and lecturers will develop strategies for the climate-resilient and heritage-sensitive redevelopment of the neighbourhood.
